Wik-Mungkan – Current Language Documentation and Maintenance Activities

A number of Pama Language Centre activities are underway at Aurukun supporting Wik-Mungkan language maintenance and documentation. Projects include:

Painted Stories and Life Stories series of workshops to creatively record cultural and linguistic knowledge between generations.

Development of training and employment opportunities for Wik-Mungkan Interpreters.

Songs on Country Wik-Mungkan song writing and recording workshops and Singing Back Our Languages Choir program in collaboration with Aurukun State School.

In 2018 Pama Language Centre will continue to provide support to the development of the Wik-Mungkan Language Programme at Aurukun State School.
