guuluu (noun) (echidnoderms) Sea Urchin, long-spined

Collected from  rocks and eaten in the Danyjiin season (June–August). They are  ready when Wattle is in bloom. In early mission days the spines were used as a stylus for writing; guuluu has been suggested as a word for “pen”. 

(Scientific name Stomopneustes variolaris.  Family Stomopneustidae.).
