We know that people arrived all the way to southern Tasmania by 35,000 years ago. That is when people started using Warreen Cave. It is the oldest place we know of where people have lived in Tasmania. Tasmania remained connected to the mainland by a land bridge until around 12,000-10,000 years ago. Then the sea levels rose enough to separate it from the mainland. No more people could cross after that. This cave still has high cultural value to Tasmanian people.

A number of limestone caves containing ice age occupation deposits are found in the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area. Photo: Aboriginal Heritage Tasmania. From: https://www.aboriginalheritage.tas.gov.au/Documents/aboriginal-heritage-twwha.pdf
